Lyrics: My reply to Emily.

Emily's blog on the use of lyrics really interested me, I've never really taken much notice of the content of songs I just tend to bop about to them! However, description of sex, violcence, swearing seem to be every day song lyrics! It's not very often that you can't find a 'radio edit' of songs and the 'uncensored' version.

I also have to agree with the point Em made about 'ndubz', some of the explicit lyrics that they include really are not necassary.
I'm sure 50 years ago that artists were singing about the white cliffs of Dover, not describing a womans genitals! Infact, I wonder what made music transform and involve into such FILTH?!

Morever, if I was a famous singer let's just say I'd be a little more than embarassed to sing about a bloke taking me home from a club to have sex with me! However, in Emily's blog she makes a very important point: SEX SELLS! Perhaps such bands like ndubz would not be half as well known as they are without there controversial lyrics. After all, their lyrics must be the reason they're so popular... besides being featured in a tabloid paper in a picture taking methadone.

I don't really see why sex or violence need to be rapped or sang about to be honest, but perhaps we should blame the 60's for its 'sex, drugs and rock & roll' attitude that has been carried forth into the music of today!
